đ Thought of the week
Some argue working on what youâre passionate about is key to success because you will endure longer. If you like what you are doing, it wonât feel like suffering⊠or is it?
Many of us have lots of passions, but we arenât good at all of them. It takes time to build skills and skills produce quality. One said it took 10,000 hours to âmasterâ something (depends on how you define mastering). If you put in enough effort, you eventually do good workâŠor is it?
Time doesnât equal quality. One might have never outgrown his same desk job for 40 years. Those 10,000 hours only count when the practice is deliberate. Quality work requires the intention to sharpen continuously.
After an immense amount of effort, your work is finally world-class, you master your craft, you are the expert, youâve built the greatest company, or you are performing at a world-class stage⊠but is it worth it?
Why are you getting good at that thing? What is your purpose? Isnât it devastating once you reach the top and realize you climbed the wrong ladder?
How do you choose which ladder to climb? Many were paralyzed by this question and forget sometimes you can switch ladder at the top. Not all but some ladders are close enough to switch over. Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Walton were both top-class entrepreneurs in their era â Mark founded Facebook/Meta at 19, whereas Sam started Walmart at 44. Sam Walton took decades to learn all his entrepreneurial skills without knowing he would found a multi-BILLIONs business empire, he landed at his âdestinationâ late but strong
After all, landing well might not be your most important consideration. Everyone has their journey â whether you choose to focus on climbing up one ladder, trying out different ladders, or helping others climb their ladders⊠own your journey and enjoy the process. Knowing that you are loved, secured, and embraced by a loving Father Who is so proud of you RIGHT NOW, go live your life without regret. You might even end up letting go of the ladder and start to walk. Itâs bigger than you think. Life is not a finite game, but an infinite journey, with destiny in eternity.
What Iâve been enjoying for the past few weeksâŠ
